Carol Canava

Carol Canava is the Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management at DECA Dental Group. In her current role, Carol is responsible for the comprehensive Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) rollout for the Denticon conversion. Her focus areas include compliance, quality assurance, training, payer relations, credentialing, supporting staff, and RCM leadership.

Carol’s most impactful professional experience was involvement in DECA’s initial transaction in 2015. This opportunity provided her with valuable exposure to different aspects of the business, broadening her understanding of RCM functions and highlighting how every action influences the organization’s overall health.

Carol’s educational background is rooted in hands-on experience rather than a traditional four-year university. This practical approach has allowed her to acquire invaluable skills and knowledge directly applicable to her career. Her leadership philosophy revolves around removing obstacles for her team, ensuring they have the resources and support to complete their tasks and help execute the company’s vision.

Carol is a member of the Women in DSO organization, which supports and highlights the contributions of women in Dental Support Organizations.

Throughout her career at DECA, Carol has been recognized with multiple awards for excellence, including the Core Value Keeper award for the Support Center in 2024.

Looking ahead, Carol is not just envisioning the company growing to over 250 offices but excited about the strategic path that will lead to this expansion. Her strategic vision is motivated by the opportunity for DECA’s clinicians to treat new guests and provide quality dental services to a larger population.

With over 25 years of experience in the dental industry, Carol brings a unique perspective to her role. Her career has included various positions such as administrative support, front office, office manager, HR, integration, and revenue cycle management. These diverse roles have given her a comprehensive understanding of how day-to-day actions impact the company and its guests.

Carol believes that discipline and accountability are essential for success in her role. She takes great pride in maintaining discipline in her work and considers accountability imperative to upholding that discipline.

Outside of her professional life, Carol enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new places with her wife, and indulging in reading and gardening.
